What can you expect?
You literally step into the world of immersive: creators present their work, and you experience it as a visitor. Not reading about the technology, not listening to someone else, but experiencing it yourself. This way, you not only get an idea of the technology but also of what it evokes and what it can inspire in an audience.
Many cultural organizations are curious about immersive technology but don’t know where to start. The afternoon combines experiencing immersive technology yourself with a content-rich program. A creator will guide you through their work and process. An external speaker will zoom in on broader developments in the field: what works, what is required, and where the opportunities lie for the cultural sector.
Afterward, you will engage in discussions with colleagues from the cultural sector on various topics: how can I start? What do I need for this? What does it cost, and what are useful tips? These questions are central during this afternoon session, organized by DEN and Innovation:LAB for cultural professionals who want to explore the immersive field.
September 15 for performing arts
We are also organizing an Immersive Experience Day for performing arts: theaters, stages, (pop) venues, festivals, and other forms of live experiences. This will take place on September 15. The location will be announced later.
The number of spots is limited, so sign up quickly! A maximum of 2 participants per organization.
May 19 for cultural organizations with a collection
Do you work at a cultural organization with a collection, such as museums, archives, and theaters with a digitized archive? Then sign up for the Immersive Experience Day on May 19, 2026, in Utrecht at the Innovation:LAB location.
Innovation:Lab is a research and development platform where art, technology, and science come together to stimulate artistic innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural renewal. Innovation:Lab is a partner of DEN.

In the fourth episode of the podcast Cultuurshift, Anic van Damme, Splinter Chabot, and expert in interactive game experiences Hayo Wagenaar discuss how audio, AI, and game principles encourage active participation instead of passive viewing in the live-action game Lander23 by Punchdrunk.
They explore how theater, technology, and interactive storytelling come together and how a smart digital layer transforms audiences into engaged participants.
