The DEN: Conscious with AI Tour - East Netherlands - with Cultuur Oost

12 November 2026, 12:00-17:00

“You have to do ‘something’ with it!”, “It goes against our core values!”, “It’s the answer to all your questions!”. Opinions about AI are flying everywhere. But how do you, as a cultural organization, decide what suits you? And how do you make conscious choices regarding sustainability, copyrights, and privacy?

After last year's success, DEN is once again touring the country this year with the Conscious with AI Tour. In various regions, we will engage in conversations with regional partners and cultural professionals about the opportunities énd challenges surrounding AI.

In short

During this event about 'Conscious with AI,' you will learn how to make responsible choices regarding the use of artificial intelligence. You will discover the sustainability, copyrights, and privacy issues of Large Language Models (LLM’s), compare AI tools that score better or worse in these areas, and work on a case study of your choice. The event is organized in collaboration with Cultuur Oost and is designed for cultural organizations looking to take the next step with AI responsibly. Cost: € 10, including lunch and a drink afterward. Bring your laptop for the practical component.

What can you expect?

Together, we will seek answers to questions that are becoming increasingly relevant in the cultural sector. What about the sustainability of AI? What does using AI mean for copyrights? And what about privacy when working with LLM’s?

We will review various AI tools and applications, share examples from the cultural sector, and discuss experiences and questions from the region. There will also be room to work on your own case study and explore the considerations that are important.

Opportunities for networking and meeting

An important part of the 'Conscious with AI Tour' is meeting other organizations and cultural professionals from the region. What are others working on? What questions are they facing? And how are other organizations approaching the use of AI?

During the networking lunch, the program, and the concluding drinks, there will be plenty of opportunities to exchange experiences, get to know each other, and establish new connections.

Examples from the region: Paleis het Loo & Gelderland South Public Library

Paleis Het Loo is identifying questions about the application of AI within the organization and is working to get AI policy on the agenda. They will share their experiences and the challenges and dilemmas surrounding the safe use of data, ethics, sustainability, and rights.

The Gelderland South Public Library is already a step further: it has its own innovation department where AI plays a significant role. They will also share their experiences and dilemmas with you.
