Digital Accessibility

The Netherlands has more than 2 million people with disabilities. Booking a performance, exploring a collection or reserving a spot at a workshop: everyone wants to be able to do that. Including people who use a screen reader, can't use a mouse or have a visual impairment. How do you make sure your website, app and ticket sales work for every visitor? And what does the European Accessibility Act mean for your cultural organisation?

Digital accessibility in brief

Digital accessibility means that your website and online services are usable for everyone, including people with disabilities. The European Accessibility Act (EAA) has been in force since June 28, 2025. Do you sell tickets or products online? Then those services comply with WCAG 2.1 (opens in new tab) (opens in new tab)level AA, the international guidelines for digital accessibility.

Do you work for a small organization with fewer than 10 employees and a maximum of €2 million in turnover or balance sheet total? Then the EAA does not apply to your services. Yet accessible work also pays off for you: this is how you welcome a larger audience online.
