Second DEN Community meet-up: March 19 on cybersecurity

19 March 2026, 12:00-16:30

On March 19, we are organizing the second DEN Community meet-up in Dordrecht (within walking distance of the station). The theme is cybersecurity: maybe not the most exciting topic, but it is essential for cultural organizations. During this meet-up, you will gain insight into why this theme is relevant now (and not just for IT professionals) and what you can practically do with it.

The previous community meet-up about AI was a great success, with many participants, plenty of interaction, and relatable practical examples. Participants mentioned that they especially learned a lot from exchanging ideas with each other. That open, learning atmosphere is once again central to this edition. Join us and contribute your thoughts!

The DEN Community (opens in new tab) is for professionals in the cultural sector working on digital challenges and projects. It is the place where you share knowledge, meet colleagues, and exchange experiences and ideas. On the online platform (opens in new tab), you will find weekly updates and discussions. There is plenty of room to learn, innovate, and build the future of digitization in culture together.

In addition to the online platform, we also organize live events. The meet-up on March 19 is the second community event and is entirely focused on cybersecurity. It might not be a topic that immediately excites you, but it is crucial. Even small organizations can experience a cyberattack. Being well-prepared is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

The Museum Cyber Incident Cost Calculator, developed based on real incidents at cultural institutions, shows how wide-ranging the impact can be. In severe cases, costs can rise to 25, 50, or even more than 100 percent of the annual budget.

What can you expect?

Cybercrime increasingly affects cultural organizations. Your digital collection, audience data, and business processes are valuable and therefore attractive to malicious actors. This is precisely why it is essential to pay attention to this topic and take the first steps toward better cybersecurity now. Also, read this interesting article by cybersecurity expert Guido van Nispen about cyberattacks on Dutch museums (opens in new tab).

The meet-up on March 19 begins with a networking lunch, followed by inspiring practical stories about cybersecurity from Benno Vogt (Korzo), Bud Scheffer (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen), and Milou Dekker (KB, national library).

Subsequently, an open-space session will take place where participants can bring their own issues and challenges related to this theme. In small groups, we will discuss the importance of cyber resilience, exchange knowledge, and share concrete tips and valuable experiences.

Will you join us on March 19?
