Lunch & Learn: What is digital accessibility?

20 March 2025, 12:00-13:00

Is your website accessible to everyone? On June 28, 2025, the new accessibility law (European Accessibility Act) will come into effect, and this will also have implications for your website. Learn more about this during the free Lunch & Learn by DEN.

Why digital accessibility?

What is digital accessibility? We do everything digitally. Watching a series, planning a train journey, buying tickets for a theater performance. But what if you cannot see or can barely see, have trouble reading, or cannot use a mouse?

1 in 4 Dutch people cannot easily view a website or app. Digital accessibility means that everyone, with or without a disability, can use digital products. Think of a website, tablet, or information kiosk.

Did you know that 50% of all mobile users use an accessibility feature, and 30% even use more than one accessibility feature? Think of dark mode, designed to reduce eye strain, or adjusting the font size. How many features do you use?

What is the Lunch & Learn about?

Accessibility is for everyone, and on June 28, 2025, the website of your cultural organization must also be digitally accessible. This Lunch & Learn is for anyone who wants to know more about digital accessibility, is already working on it, or wants to start. We discuss the new accessibility law (European Accessibility Act). We delve into what the law entails, which cultural organizations it applies to, and what this means for your ticket shop and/or website.

We explain how to become accessible and for whom. Because accessibility is not just for people with a disability, but for everyone.

In this one-hour session, we answer your questions, let you learn from other participants, and provide practical tools to get started with digital accessibility.
