A learning organisation: your next steps

You are a learning organisation. The organisation is developing skills and gaining knowledge about digitalisation and new technologies. What is your next step? Find out on this page.

You are a learning organisation

You are in the second phase of the digital transformation process. Structurally invest time in developing knowledge and skills, so that you can utilize the opportunities offered by digital transformation. This phase is about creating the preliminary conditions to achieving digital ambitions: budget, the basis of data and data management, the organisation culture and digital initiatives.

Component 1: Strategy and budget

Start by formulating your digital ambitions. Make this a collective process by doing so with a broad representation of the organisation’s workforce. Devote attention to digital activities and make visible how these contribute to the organisation’s digital ambitions. Make sure to have budget available to implement digital projects, for instance by exploring the outside funds that exist to support digital activities.

Component 2: Culture and competencies

Facilitate iterative and digital work and collaboration processes for co-workers. Offer examples by sharing initiatives or projects in your organisation where this is already happening. Stimulate co-workers to obtain knowledge about digital transformation and technologies through online research, reading books, listening to podcasts or following relevant training courses.

Component 3: Audience and value

Expand your audience. Explore the options to offer products and services via external platforms and channels. Find inspiration by examining how other organisations in the sector are doing this, and the added value they have drawn from this.

Component 4: Data and technology

Audience data helps you to understand your audiences and your opportunities. Devote attention to putting the basis of your data, data management and data architecture into order. Choose future-ready solutions and examine opportunities for collaboration both within and outside your sector.

Component 5: Processes and structure

Research what parts of your services to visitors can be shifted (more) online, and undertake activities to achieve this. Apply the knowledge you have obtained about the audience of the future.

Monitor your progress

The information on this page will help you make a next step in digital transformation. But what is the impact of your efforts? Save the results of the Digital Transformation Scan and monitor your activities. Perform the scan again in 6 or 12 months from now to see the progress achieved by your organisation.
