UNESCO has embarked on a two-year process to elaborate the first global standard-setting instrument on the ethics of artificial intelligence in the form of a Recommendation. The UNESCO Recommendation is expected to define shared values and principles, and identify concrete policy measures on the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI).
The purpose of this questionnaire is to collect feedback on the first draft of the Recommendation.
Your participation will help enrich the draft Recommendation with your views about how AI could be beneficial or detrimental for society. Deadline: 31 July 2020.
The questionnaire is structured to provide you with the option to comment on each part of the draft Recommendation as follows:
- Scope of Application;
- Aims and Objectives;
- Values and Principles;
- Areas of Policy Action;
- Monitoring and Evaluation;
- Utilization and Exploitation;
- Final Provisions.
There are 190 questions, most of which are optional. Depending on the thoroughness of feedback provided, you should expect to spend more than an hour to complete the questionnaire.
You can 1) choose the most appropriate answer among the ones suggested for each question or 2) suggest your own ideas in dedicated text boxes.
You will have the possibility to save your responses and continue later by using the “Resume later” and “Load unfinished survey” functions. You can also navigate to any set of questions using the “Question Index” function, or by using the “Next” and “Previous” buttons.
Once the questionnaire is complete, click on the “Submit” button to register your response.
The results of this online consultation will be consolidated into a publicly accessible working document.
This will be used to revise the first draft of the Recommendation by September 2020. The resulting draft will be transmitted to Member States for the next step in the process.
Names of individuals and organizations providing feedback will not be made publicly available.
