Seizing opportunities in the digital domain for the cultural sector of the Caribbean Netherlands

DEN Academy announces new programme “Seizing opportunities in the digital domain for the cultural sector of the Caribbean Netherlands”

12 januari t/m 30 maart 2022

Are you a cultural professional in the Caribbean Netherlands and would you like to know how the digital domain can contribute to your activities? Are you taking your first steps in the digital world or are you already taking advantage of digital opportunities to engage your audience or tell your story? Do you want to explore collaboration possibilities to further your digital efforts?

That's why the DEN Academy created the training programme “Seizing opportunities in the digital domain for the cultural sector of the Caribbean Netherlands”. Please note that both tracks have currently reached the maximum number of participants. You can no longer register for this programme.

Structure of the programme

The training programme consists of two separate tracks:

· A track for participants who want to take a first step toward exploring the potential of digital technologies for telling stories to a diverse audience.

· A track for participants who are ready to take the next step in their digital journey and are looking for new opportunities in the digital domain.

The programme ends with a joint session during which participants from both groups have the chance to meet and network to explore possible partnerships.

Duration of the programme

The training programme consists of three half-day sessions and a final session. Participation is free of charge but registration is required. The programme is offered by the DEN Academy and is made possible by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science.

Themes and content of the programme

The training programme focuses on the following themes:

Let’s talk digital: where are you now and what is your next step?

Meet colleagues from the cultural sector of the Caribbean Netherlands who, like you, are taking the first step in their digital journey. Explore where you stand and what approach you want to take. Learn from the experiences of others and share your own experiences. This theme allows you to connect with peers and be inspired by local and international initiatives.

Embarking on your digital journey: who are your digital customers?

Who are your digital customers and how can you reach them? What is the best way to engage with them and share your digital stories? How do you make the connection between online and offline? And how do you translate your strategy into concrete activities? In this theme, we look at how you can connect with potential visitors virtually and physically, and how digital and analogue can complement each other.

Taking the next step in your digital journey through collaboration and networking

How can you solve digital challenges within your organisation in cooperation with colleague institutions at home and abroad? In this theme, we identify opportunities for taking joint steps to ramp up your digital efforts through collaboration.

Goal of the programme

The aim of the training is to support culture makers and organisations in their digital journey and to offer new perspectives. Participants choose a track based on their needs and starting level: new to digital or further along the digital road.

Both programme tracks provide a foundation for the digital transformation of your organisation or work practice, which will enable you to develop activities and create opportunities to adapt your organisation to the digital era one step at a time.

Relevance to professional practice

The training programme:

  • is a mix of theory and practice.
  • contains interactive elements: you get to meet other participants and work together on case studies.
  • is practice oriented: you can immediately implement what you have learned.
  • is tailor-made for participants within the cultural sector of the Caribbean Netherlands who are taking the first step in their digital journey or want to further their digital transformation.
