"Put your innovation project in the spotlight!
The GLAMi Awards recognize and celebrate the most innovative projects in the cultural heritage sector of the past year. Any museum, gallery, library or archive (GLAM) institution may submit their 2016 projects for an award. Agencies and media producers may submit their work in collaboration with their client institutions. Projects must have been released to the public during the 2016 calendar year.
The GLAMies were previously known as the Best of the Web (BOW) Awards, introduced in 1997 at the first Museums and the Web conference, when the word “Web” in a museum was almost synonymous with “innovation.” See an archive of previous winners of the BOW Awards on Wikipedia.
Today, the MW conferences have come to represent innovation in the cultural sector at large, much of which happens beyond the web. In 2016, we relaunched BOW as the GLAMies - recognizing the most innovative work in Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums worldwide, and this year's program includes a special showcase session for finalists on Thursday before the awards ceremony on the Friday of the MW17 conference."
